ISO 14001:2015-INSIGHT

Jack Sekhon & Associates Inc. believe that the structure of the new standard uses a long-overdue but progressive approach to protect the environment and organization using the environmental management system as a tool. This  enables the organizations to clearly focus on the business intent/purpose, risk strategies, compliance obligations, specific operational planning using life cycle perspective, performance measures and evaluation, and ultimately the real value-adding continual improvement. In addition, the new standard follows a standard format adopted by ISO and is better aligned with other standards. The ISO 14001:2015 Standard  requires a different approach to auditing based upon its life cycle and risk management model.

Highlights of ISO 14001:2015 include:

  • Clearer emphasis on process approach
  • Use of environmental management system intended outcomes term
  • Extensive list of definitions
  • Elimination of a management representative requirement
  • Use of documented information term
